RIM: Splitting The Company In Two Parts A 'Silly Fantasy'

This article is more than 10 years old.

Update: Responding to the Sunday Times report suggesting Research In Motion could be split into two separate companies, the Globe & Mail quoted people close to RIM as saying the idea was "a silly fantasy," and "one of the most ridiculous I have heard in a while."

A spokesman for the BlackBerry smartphone maker told the Toronto-based newspaper that it remains focused on turning around the business.

The story says that two former RIM executives said Sunday that top managers at the company do not take the split idea seriously.

RIMM in early trading is up 11 cents, or 1.1%, to $9.96.
