Acer's new Windows 8 line-up

Acer has officially unveiled its line-up of Windows 8 PCs, debuting two new tablets, an ultrabook and all-in-one PC, all running the full-fat Windows 8 OS.

Acer's two new Iconia tablets, the W510 and W700 will run on Windows 8 Pro as opposed the tablet-optimised hobbled version of the new OS, Windows RT, when they land on Aussie shores in early to mid November.

The W700 comes packing a 11.6in IPS HD touchscreen display, running on an Intel Core i5 chip, 128GB SSD, 3 USB 3.0 ports, with an included pouch which doubles as a stand, and cradle which offers additional ports. It will retail for $1199, and can be bundled with a Surface-style keyboard (keys embedded into the cover) for $1299.

The W510 is a 10in tablet hybrid with a dock that doubles up as a keyboard and detachable screen, battery-prolonger and stand, which Acer claims has a battery life of 18 hours. It runs on an Intel Atom 'Clover Trail' chip and full Windows 8. It's lighter than the iPad at 160g (attached to the stand it becomes 1.2kg). It will retail for $699 just for the slate, add $100 for 3G and another $150 for a keyboard.

Both will be made available in retail stores JB HiFi, Good Guys and Officeworks, as well as through distributors Ingram Micro, Synnex, and Bluechip Infotech.

Also revealed today was Acer's super-light Aspire S7 ultrabook, in both 11.6in and 13.3in varieties.

The 11.6in version weighs under 1kg, runs on a Core i5 processor, with 128GB SSD, 4GB RAM and has up to 9 hours of battery life. It will come bundled with a pouch and will go on sale in line with the launch of Windows 8 on October 26, for $1699.

The 13.3in model comes with Core i7 and a 128GB SSD and 4GB RAM, with Gorilla Glass for the lid. It weighs 1.3kg with up to 6 hours battery life. It will come bundled with a mouse and pouch when it arrives in early November, for $1999.

Acer's latest all-in-one desktop offering is the 27in 7600U. It's 35mm thick, with a full HD 1080p screen and touts a 'floating design', with the bottom of the PC, mouse and keyboard surrounded by glass.

It has 10 point touch recognition, is available with both Core i5 and i7, with 32GB SSD and a 1TB hard drive. The most notable feature of this PC is the power cord is integrated into the stand, rather than the body of the PC.

A thin line of rubber running along the base of the PC allows it to slide back to lie almost flat.

The Core i5 model will retail for $2299, with the Core i7 at $2499.
