PETACH TIKVA, Israel--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Cellebrite, the leading developer and provider of mobile forensic solutions, today introduced support for iPhone 5, iOS 6, Android 4.1, and BlackBerry via its latest software update. The update comes following Apple’s September announcement of a record-breaking 5 million iPhone 5 sales worldwide, and as the “Jelly Bean” Android OS is pushed to many of the most popular Samsung Galaxy and Motorola Droid models. Together with new decoding capabilities for deleted BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) messages and group chats, the update makes Cellebrite the only vendor in the mobile forensics industry to provide full extraction support for the three major smartphone operating systems.

Select forensic support for iPhone 5; full physical extraction of iOS 6 Data
The iPhone 5 is built for LTE networks’ higher speed and capacity. This will make it easier for offenders to record and share evidence of their wrongdoing. Meanwhile, on October 13, TechCrunch reported iOS 6 adoption at between 50 and 60 percent, following Apple’s September 24 announcement that iOS 6 had been installed on more than 100 million of its devices.
Cellebrite now supports full physical extraction from certain devices running iOS 6, and file system and logical extractions—the acquisition of existing and some deleted data—from all devices with iOS6, including iPhone 5 devices. Physical extraction includes simple passcode recovery and complex passcode bypass on certain devices.
Sole physical Android 4.1 “Jelly Bean” support
Samsung has announced that it’s pushing “Jelly Bean” Android 4.1 OS to all Galaxy SIII devices, and in the future to other Galaxy devices including the Nexus, SII, Note, Tab and more. Some Motorola Droid Razr and HTC One models will also receive the new update.
Cellebrite’s release enables the extraction of all hidden and deleted data from devices running the Jelly Bean OS, as well as the bypass of pattern, PIN, or passcode locks on supported Android devices.
Extended decoding for BlackBerry Messenger: group chats and deleted messages
Cellebrite is the only mobile forensics vendor to offer a complete image of BlackBerry NAND memory from devices running OS 4, 5, 6 and 7. This release adds to that distinction with two new capabilities: the decoding of deleted BBM messages and BBM group chats, which can be crucial to establishing how suspects and/or victims knew and communicated with one another. Organized criminals in particular have relied on encrypted BBM communications to “hide” their activities from police.
