Apple Devices Generating Almost Two-Thirds of Mobile Web Traffic

This article is more than 10 years old.

Apple’s iPhone and iPad generated 64% of mobile Internet usage in the US and Canada for the month of November per Chitika Insights.  Apple has maintained and increased a large lead during 2012 as it started the year with a 58% market share.  Samsung has a 13% market share but is clearly in a distant second place and HTC is third with a 5% share.

It is worthwhile to note that if the iPad was removed from the analysis that Apple’s share would be noticeably lower since it was responsible for 88% of tablet Ad impressions in mid-November.

While Apple’s share dropped in September it rebounded in October after the iPhone 5 was launched and had a full month of availability.  Overall Apple maintains significant dominance in mobile internet traffic, Samsung has maintained its position during the year and HTC has lost significant share decreasing from 14% to 5% share.
