So-Called 'Google Now For iOS' Grokr Gets Major Redesign

March 19, 2013
The app that "groks" the types of information you need has just received a notable update. I am, of course, referring to Grokr. Released last December, Grokr earned an honorable mention in one of our App of the Week features here on AppAdvice. Prior to that, it was reviewed favorably by Christine, who noted that Grokr is "your own personalized dashboard for your iPhone. Think of it as Google Now, minus the voice assistant part." And now, it has received an update that brings a significant redesign. A big part of Grokr's redesign is the introduction of new tiles for the app's main sections. There's a new sports tile, which comes just in time for March Madness. With this new tile, you can brag about your latest victory during March Madness with the brag button. The new tile also lets you keep abreast of the latest developments concerning your favorite basketball, baseball, hockey, and football teams. If you can't see the video embedded above, please click here. The redesigned app also has a new local tile for better local searches, a new recommended tile for improved delivery of stories, and a new events tile for relevant birthdays, concerts, and other events. It also offers enhanced notifications and a better way to add the news sources and sports teams that matter to you. And finally, the latest update to Grokr includes a beta tile, in which you can check out the app's upcoming features. Optimized for iPhone and iPod touch running iOS 6.0 or later, the new version of Grokr is available now in the App Store for free. [gallery link="file" order="DESC"]
