Quilted Barbour covers designed in collaboration with technology accessories firm Proporta have gone on sale for the first time, reflecting the firm's recent move into the luxury goods market.

British fashion label Barbour has recently undergone something of a renaissance, extending its appeal beyond the country set to a younger customer base, who like the look and quality of quilted and waxed jackets.

Models Kate Moss and Alexa Chung began a trend for wearing its classic green jackets among the fashion conscious, joining more traditional fans including the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh.

The quilted covers begin at £39.95 for iPhone 5 and cost £54.95 for the iPad. Covers for Samsung Galaxy phones are also available.

Barbour family members are the sole shareholders of the business and are still heavily involved in its running, with Dame Margaret Barbour serving as chairman.

Barbour's managing director Steve Buck said: "We are introducing mobile technology cases into the range as a direct response to our customers who have been asking us for these products for a while. Barbour is delighted to be working with Proporta who are renowned for their expertise and creativity in this area.

"By incorporating our iconic quilting and tartan materials into the cases, it makes them instantly recognisable as Barbour products and they are a natural accompaniment to our clothing and accessories as we continue to evolve as a global lifestyle brand."
