For The Win and USA TODAY Sports’ Steve DiMeglio caught up with PGA golfer Rickie Fowler during the Masters and got him to show us his iPhone. We talked about his favorite apps, who he was texting, and how not addicted he was to the technology (but isn’t that what we all tell ourselves?).

We didn’t ask Fowler why he dressed himself like a margarita during the Masters.

Who is on your background?

From left: Fowler, fellow pro golfer and 2012 Masters champion Bubba Watson, his friend Dave Lawrence (who is Fowler’s sister’s boyfriend), Fowler’s dad, Rod, his mom, Lynn, and his sister, Taylor.

What was the last text you sent?

“I get and send about 100 texts a day,” Fowler told For The Win, and the last text he sent read simply “Cool” in response to his caddie, Joe Skovron, texting him to say he, the caddie, was at the golf course at Augusta National during the second round of the Masters.

What is your favorite app?

“Instagram. It’s fun seeing pictures from friends and family and people I follow. I check it every hour of the day – when I’m awake. About 10 times a day. It’s just a cool app.”

How addicted are you to your phone?

“A phone nowadays is important for everyone. For me, it keeps me connected with friends and family, and keeps me up on things through social media and stuff. But I’m able to go without the phone for extended periods of time. I can take a vacation from the phone.”
