Netflix has updated its iPad app to provide users with more rows of suggested TV shows and movies.

"Most iPad users will now have access to 25 or more rows on the main screen of the Netflix App," Netflix said in a blog post.

The rows help navigate the thousands of options on Netflix's Watch Instantly platform, splitting them up by categories like "Popular on Netflix," "Documentaries," or "Thrillers." They also offer suggestions based on your viewing history, like "Because You Watched House of Cards," as well as the recently added "Popular on Facebook."

"These new rows will include many more of your favorite genres. All of these were previously available on the iPad, but you had to browse more deeply to find them," Netflix said. "With today's change, more movies and TV shows should be easily accessible without digging around to find them."

Those with the first-gen iPad might not see as many suggestions due to "platform limitations," Netflix said.

In recent weeks, Netflix has also added a drop-down episode selector for TV shows, making it easier to navigate through a season, and introduced a redesigned audio and subtitle selector for iPad and iPhone.

The updates comes as almost 2,000 selections were removed from Netflix due to expiring licenses. There was some confusion as to whether some older Warner Bros. content was being removed and added to the company's new Warner Instant streaming service, but Netflix and Warner said that was not the case. "The vast majority of the titles that expire[d] ... are older features that were aggregated by Epix," a Netflix spokesman said.

During the first quarter, Netflix added 2 million U.S. streaming members for a total of 29 million. The DVD business continues to shrink and now stands at 8 million. International streaming membership grew by more than 1 million to 7.1 million, and collectively, users watched more than 4 billion hours of movies and TV shows.

Netflix is betting more on original programming recently, buoyed by the success of House of Cards. Hemlock Grove recently made its debut on the service, while the final season of Arrested Development will be posted on May 26. Orange is the New Black will then premiere on July 11.
