New Facebook logo for iOS
Facebook’s new app logo was declared ‘ugly’ on Twitter

You wouldn’t think Facebook putting a grid and a silver box on their iPhone, iPad and iPod app logo could elicit such strong emotions as anger and delight would you? But it has, with users rushing to express their reaction to the momentary beta logo.

The logo change came as part of Facebook’s most recent update on iOS devices, which made no mention of the change but promised to improve the way location tagging and events work.

The ‘f’ and blue background colour remain the same, but the symbol was given a light grid reminiscent of graph paper along with a silver box around the edge, in order to indicate the app was in beta.

Many iOS users took to this social network to express their reaction to the logo, with one commenting: ‘What in all of abomination is that new Facebook logo? Who is smoking crack’ and another adding equally dramatically: ‘New fb logo is ugly 1/10 awful ruined my homescreen pls revise ?’

The logo was also branded ‘out of place’ and simply ‘uggo’, while other defending it calling the design ‘simple’ yet ‘stylish’.

In other Facebook logo news (yes, there’s more) the social network recently officially dropped the faint blue line that ran under the f.
