Saying Goodbye To Apple’s Iconic Home Button

May 14, 2013
Take a look at your iPhone or iPad. The home button we’ve all come to love could soon be making an exit, according to TechNews. Apple is said to be getting rid of the iconic home button on the so-called “iPhone 5S.” Instead, the device will come with a sapphire crystal capacitive touch button that includes a new fingerprint sensor. This wouldn’t be the first time Apple has used sapphire crystal on an iOS device. The iPhone 5’s camera lens is made from this material. We’ve heard often that Apple has been working on a touch button for their iOS devices. In fact, there were rumors in 2012 that the iPhone 5 would come with one. The inclusion of fingerprint sensing technology has also been long-rumored, especially after Apple’s purchase of AuthenTec last year. Apple is expected to unveil the seventh-generation iPhone later this year. At the same time, a budget iPhone could also be released.
