Review: Craftwerk by Freeform3 Gorilla Protection Glass Screen Protector For iPad Mini

I know I’ve said this before but if you’ve not yet experienced the feeling of what a tempered glass screen shield is like on one of your mobile devices you sure are missing out.  Imagine protecting the precious glass screen of your iPad Mini without changing, in any way whatsoever, the way the display looks and feels like.  That’s just what using a tempered glass screen protector allows you to do.

I reviewed the Gorilla Protection Glass Screen Protector for the iPhone from Freeform3 here and was very impressed by it.  Now it’s time to see if the company’s new iPad Mini version is just as good.  Check out my full review and video to find out.

Read on through for my full review.

Inside the packaging you’ll find the screen protector along with a dust removal sticker, home button replacement stickers and a microfiber cloth.

Here’s what Freeform3 has to say about the Gorilla Protection Glass Screen Protector for iPad Mini.

“Our Gorilla Protection Screen Protector is the finest tempered glass screen protector on the market. The precision cut glass will fit your iPad Mini’s screen perfectly. The advanced rounded edges makes this screen protector seamless with your device and look absolutely stunning. Our crystal clear glass has a surface hardness of 9H for maximum protection against drops and scratches.

On the surface, there is an Oleophobic coating to prevent from fingerprints. Underneath is a special silicone adhesive that we guarantee will make installation a breeze. You will notice as you lay the glass on your device, that the adhesive spreads evenly throughout the screen on its own without air bubbles. If not properly aligned or if there are dust particles underneath the glass, removal of the glass is not a problem. Our special silicone adhesive makes our screen protectors reusable. We are all human and we all make mistakes. That is why you do not need to worry about messing up during installation because we purposely engineered the silicone adhesive so that you can take the glass off the phone and try again.”

As with any screen shield installation the most important step is to make sure your device’s screen is completely clean and 100% free of any dust or debris.  The smallest speck of dust getting trapped underneath a screen shield may result in a bubble being formed.  This is especially true with the iPad.  It’s a nice touch that Freeform3 provides a dust removal sticker to assist you in the process.

Once you’re screen is clean and you’re ready to go you need to act fast.  If you wait around it increases the chances that dust floating around in the air may land on your screen.  Peel the protective layer off the Gorilla Protection Screen Protector and expose the adhesive side.  Then, line up the top and bottom with your Mini’s screen, I use the home button and front facing camera to help guide me, and place it down.  The moment you let go the adhesive goes to work and begins sucking the screen protector to your screen.

You can use your finger, thumb, or the included microfiber to smooth out any air bubbles that may have formed.  Should any dust by trapped underneath, the adhesive that Freeform 3 uses allows for the screen protector to be removed.  You can free the dust and then reapply it.  This is why Freeform3 offers no replacement program like many of the other companies making glass shields do.

Since glass screen shields have a tendency to be thick they often make a large impression or gap where the home button is located.  This one is no different.  If this bothers you feel free to install the home button replacement stickers Freeform3 includes in the packaging to remedy the issue.

Once it’s fully set and installed the Gorilla Protection Screen Protector looks nothing short of spectacular.  Actually, what it looks like is nothing.  You simply have a hard time telling there’s a screen shield installed at all, and that’s all you can ask of a good quality screen protector.
