Beam up this app to transport info

Tired of e-mailing phone numbers and directions to yourself to get them on your phone?

Then you might want to try BeamApp, a free service for Apple devices that lets you easily share phone numbers, directions, music and text copied to your clipboard.

Just install BeamApp on your Mac, iPhone, iPad or iPod touch.

To set up a device you can share information with, open the app and either scan the QR code that pops up or enter the PIN number on your new device.

When you want to share something, click on the app, and what you want to share should appear in a drop-down menu or on a new screen. Select the information you want to send and the target device, and click on the “Beam” button.

If you send a phone number to your iPhone, Beam will have your iPhone dial the number.

Similarly, if you copy an address or directions, the location or route will open on a map when you Beam it to your phone.

Music you’re listening to on iTunes can be sent between devices and will pick up where you left off, so you can continue listening to the song you were enjoying on your mobile device when you get to your desk.

To receive “beams” on your Mac, the app needs to be running, but you can easily configure it so it starts automatically when you turn on/log in to your computer.
