iOS 7 gets major UX overhaul

Plenty to get excited about Monday at WWDC, but iOS 7 should be the biggest highlight. Many complained about how iOS has gotten stale and also those warm fuzzy graphics and textures that were at best a little cheesy. That's all gone. The new iOS has a very modern look and sheen with thin fonts, with no gradients, no stitching, wood or leather to be found. Also new are motion activated graphics where background change with the perspective of the phone. That gives things a living 3Ð look, which seems to compensate for some of the lack of textures.

iOS 7 also gets a bunch of new features. Like AirDrop from the Mac allows for simple sharing between users. A new Control Center brings most used controls front and center in a new global swipe menu. Also new support for multitasking across all apps, which is a great feature provided Apple's promise of battery life holds true. Existing apps got an overhaul like Photos, Mail, Weather, Messages, and Safari. Siri too gets some love with new voices and an improved interface.

iOS 7 is expected to ship this fall. Likely when we see the next iPhone and maybe iPads too.
