My iPhone - putting the smart into smartphone
One of the greatest things that I like about my iPhone is the fact that it tells me what aircraft are above me. It’s not just a device that allows me to make calls and gives me my email but it provides me with a lot more information besides. Naturally I am an aviation geek, I can fly and I find aviation to be interesting. I always like looking up and seeing the aircraft above me, wondering where all the planes are going to. Obviously I can point my iPhone at the individual planes and it will tell me the destination, origin, height and speed besides a lots more information. It’s always fascinated me how it gets the information from and how it knows everything it does but all the aviation information is given to me in real time and the app I use always impresses my friends. But it’s another example of what the iPhone is can do.
Naturally it can help us communicate with one another but it also provides us with a wealth of information that we would not necessarily be able to easily retrieve.
Yet another feature I like about the iPhone is the fact that I can dictate and it will transcribe everything I say, take this editorial for example, I’m just dictating it into my iPhone and it is transcribing it as I speak. Now if I was to type this it would take me a few minutes but just saying what I want to say and the iPhone is transcribing this saves so much time. It makes me want to put together longer text and use it to send to people or upload to PalmAddict. Obviously the iPhone isn’t the only smartphone facts can see this, android is also capable of such a feat but it’s a prime example of what our phones are capable of and as I have mentioned previously we did not expect to be able to do this five or so years ago when the term smartphones was being coined.
