The United Kingdom has adopted a brand new policy over online adult content, as Prime Minister David Cameron is planning to set up family-friendly filters to protect children browsing the web.

Even though Cameron has clearly stated that British homes will be allowed to choose whether they want to block adult material by default or not, he called for tech giants, including Microsoft, to help filter content found online and easily reachable via its Bing Search engine.

“There needs to be a list of terms -- a blacklist -- which offer up no direct search returns. are some searches which are so abhorrent and where they can be no doubt whatsoever about the sick and malevolent intent of the searcher. I have a very clear message for Google, Bing, Yahoo and the rest. You have a duty to act on this -- and it is a moral duty,” Cameron was quoted as saying by Bloomberg.

Microsoft is yet to release a comment on this, but given the fact that the Softies are working hard to improve their search engine, expect the company to show its full support for the new policy.
