Apple today released the latest beta version of its iOS 7 mobile OS to developers.
At first glance, iOS 7 beta 4 includes the usual bug fixes and minor updates, but it is the first release since Apple was forced to take its developer center offline following a breach.
9to5Mac has a running tally of some of the updates included in beta 4. That includes tweaks to the answer and call buttons within iOS 7, as well as a simplified lock screen.
BGR, meanwhile, has the full change log, which touches on iCloud Keychain, which will remember passwords and credit card numbers, among other things.
Only those with an Apple developer account can access iOS 7 beta 4. Apple is scheduled to release iOS 7 this fall for iPhone 4 and up, iPad 2 and later, the iPad mini, and the fifth-generation iPod touch. If history is any indication, its release will also coincide with the launch of a new iPhone.
The release comes just over a week after Apple took its developer website offline after "an intruder attempted to secure personal information of our registered developers from our developer website," Apple said at the time. It returned this weekend.
That "intruder" was reportedly just a curious penetration tester, but as PCMag's Security Watch pointed out, attacks against developer sites can have more far-reaching consequences than just stealing personal information.
Previous beta versions of iOS 7, meanwhile, have included iPad support and message upgrades.
