Quip is a new web and iOS app word processor with emphasis on collaboration

There are a ton of options in the App Store for working with text and the occasional graphics. Quip is a new entry that brings some interesting things to the table. The app is available for iOS on iPad and iPhone and also Android. In addition, there's a Web app available for the desktop.

Quip does all the things you'd expect a basic word processor to accomplish. It works with text, had auto correct, can work with in-line graphics, offers basic formatting, and allows for tables. The cool part though comes in the collaboration. Others can be invited to work on the document and there's a threaded list of documents. Within the tread, all the users changes and comments can be viewed. The app pulls user photos from either Twitter or Facebook, which makes for a nice presentation. So in addition to editing the document, seeing the threads of documents, there's also a timeline view where changes can be seen and participants can chat.

It looks pretty cool and is available for free.
