Windows 8.1 update in October? Shares of Microsoft are down 0.9% in pre-market trading, as new information surfaces on a potential upgrade date for its latest operating system.
The Verge reports Microsoft plans on releasing Windows 8.1 to the public this October. The report cites "sources familiar with Microsoft's plans."
As USA TODAY's Ed Baig notes, Windows 8.1 carries a lot of subtle tweaks, most notably the return of the Start button.
BlackBerry steady after big Monday. Shares of the smartphone market are steady following its announcement that it will explore a sale of the company among other "strategic alternatives."
BlackBerry says it will push forward with its plans for BlackBerry 10 devices, which launched in the U.S. earlier this year. The smartphones have failed to catch on with consumers, with Apple's iOS and Google Android dominating the mobile market.
Shares of BlackBerry finished Monday with a 10% boost.
