Apple begins promoting new Mac Pro for fall launch

Mac Rumors notes that Apple is showing its Mac Pro teaser clip in movie theaters. The clip was first shown at WWDC in June. Kind of weird, but it's interesting that Apple may be putting some extra mojo behind this launch. Reportedly the teaser lists a Fall 2013 release. At WWDC Apple said it would be out later in 2013, so at least this tightens the time frame just a bit.

The Mac Pro is expected to ship with a 12-core Xeon process. If you were to buy the processor itself it'll set you back a bit. The upcoming Intel server processor are rumored to cost somewhere between $2700-$3000, depending on clock speed. We'd assume Apple will offer some lower end models, perhaps a 8-core option, but those too aren't exactly cheap.

Apple could be positioning this as a flagship product that will draw in customers to its entire product line. Or maybe somehow this will have a more consumer-friendly price. Or maybe Apple is just pretty excited about this project and wants to get the word out.
