Microsoft lists 23 launch-day titles for Xbox One

Company also announces co-op Fable Legends, Peggle 2 as timed exclusive.

Yesterday, Microsoft revealed a list of 50 games that had merely been "announced" for the Xbox One, including 21 that were planned for release sometime this year. Today at Gamescom, Microsoft narrowed down that list to 23 games that will be available when the system launches sometime in November.

Of note on the list are two newly announced games that will be ready for the Xbox One's first day on sale. Peggle 2, an EA-published follow-up to Popcap's enchanting pachinko-style game, will actually be a timed exclusive for the Xbox One. Ubisoft's Fighter Within is, appropriately enough, a fighting game controlled by Microsoft's new Kinect sensor, bringing up painful memories of the execrable Fighter's Uncaged for the Xbox 360 Kinect. EA's previously revealed Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare will also be a timed exclusive on the Xbox One.

Elsewhere in its pre-Gamescom press presentation, Microsoft announced Fable Legends, an online-focused entry into Lionhead's ambitious RPG series. The game will feature four-player co-op play and will allow players to take control of villains using a Smartglass-equipped mobile device or tablet. Microsoft also revealed Xbox 360 and Xbox One versions of Cobalt, a game being co-developed by Minecraft developer Mojang that is currently available as a paid alpha on Windows.

Here's the current list of games you can expect to see on store shelves (and Xbox Marketplace online displays) when the Xbox One releases sometime in November.
