Photoful Updated With Empty Trash Workaround, Screenshot Support And Other Features

August 25, 2013
The top-rating photo management app Photoful has just been updated to version 2.1. Formerly called PhotoSocial, Photoful was updated last June to version 2.0 with the name it now bears and with the iOS 7-inspired interface it now boasts. Now, Photoful 2.1 delivers a number of new features and improvements. Foremost among these is the ability to empty your Photoful trash. You see, third-party iOS apps are prohibited by App Store rules from deleting photos. But the Photoful team has devised a patent-pending workaround, albeit one that requires the use of a Mac or a PC. To take advantage of this workaround, you need to install Photoful's Empty Trash app on your Mac or PC. You can download the Mac app here and the Windows app here. With the Empty Trash app installed accordingly, your Photoful trash is emptied each time you plug your iDevice to your computer, even when Photoful is not open on your iDevice. Previously, screenshots were excluded from Photoful. Now, though, screenshots appear in Photoful's gallery as well as camera shots. Photoful 2.1 also introduces support for sharing photos via WhatsApp, in addition to email, iMessage, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. It also adds the ability to rename and delete tags and the ability to add multiple tags at once. Also including bug fixes and stability improvements, Photoful 2.1 is available now in the App Store for free. The app is optimized for iPhone and iPod touch running iOS 5.1 or later. Photoful is listed as an "essential app" in AppAdvice's Photo Organization Apps AppGuide. Following its 2.0 update, the app was also named as AppAdvice's App of the Week. In her review of Photoful, my colleague Christine noted, "If you want complete control of your photos, and prefer something that feels like part of iOS 7 itself, then you will want to check out Photoful."
