Phlo Review

I'm a search addict, mostly because I'm an information addict. If I can't remember something or I want to know more about a subject, I can't just leave it be. Instead, I scurry to Google and begin searching to learn more. That extends to everything possible, right down to "I wonder how old X director is?" Potentially, Phlo could save me a surprising amount of time.

The app is essentially consolidated searching. It allows users to enter their search term just once with a list of search engines and services enabling them to switch between places to garner more information. That means no need to continually re-enter a search term, and it immediately makes things so much simpler.

Over 30 different sites are catered for here, with more possible to add too. It's a varied selection too, with Google, IMDb, Wikipedia, YouTube, TED, CNN, Twitter, and so many more easily searchable. I've struggled to think of a place that is excluded here, but for those who manage to think of one, it's simple enough to add another option.

Besides making it easy to search and view new content, further functionality exists. It's simple enough to share links with others via a message, e-mail, Facebook post, or tweet. Saving links to look at later via Instapaper or Readability is similarly straight-forward. Rounding off the package, Phlo synchronizes well with its desktop clients; making it a tempting proposition for search addicts such as myself.

Phlo is a very focused tool and, despite potentially being a little pricey, is going to save a lot of people a fair bit of time in their searching efforts. It's simple to use and makes discovering more information that little bit more comfortable. Something that's surely valuable to us all, right?
