Mailbox App Gets Cloud Search, Account-Specific Signatures

Email inbox cleansing app Mailbox this week released version 1.5 for iOS, adding cloud search and account-specific signatures.

Cloud search skims all messages in the user's Gmail account — not just those saved locally to their phone. An account-specific signature, meanwhile, can be automatically added to emails based on different send-from address.

Additionally, Mailbox users can now open links in Chrome as well as the default Safari. A number of performance improvements and bug fixes also make the email purifying process faster and easier.

The Dropbox-owned application has one more trick up its sleeve: "You now get 1GB of free space when you link your Dropbox account to Mailbox," Mailbox said in a blog post.

Just visit the email app's Settings, then select Dropbox to link both accounts; the space will be automatically deposited into your account.

The app is available for free in the App Store.

Launched in early February, the app functions as a sort of to-do list for electronic messages, with swipe functions to archive or delete emails, and the ability to read an entire conversation in one swoop, or snooze messages until later. It was acquired by Dropbox in March, and topped one million users only six weeks after launch.
