Microsoft has unveiled a new-look logo for its search engine Bing.

The company is replacing its current curvy blue image for a design more closely-aligned to Microsoft's existing products.

"The logo, obviously, is a big deal for us, a lot more angular and fresh and sharper than we've used in the past," Microsoft's Lawrence Ripsher told The Verge.

Bing.com will also receive a refreshed web design which will be rolled out over the coming weeks across the web and apps for tablets and smartphones.

Microsoft has opted for a golden orange colour for Bing's new logo, placing it as 'part of the family' within the corporate Microsoft logo.

The move follows Yahoo's new-look logo which has transformed into a thinner typeface, but retains its purple colour.
