OmniFocus 2 for iPhone now available

OmniGroup has released an impressive upgrade to its OmniFocus app for the iPhone.

OmniFocus for iPhone brings task management to your fingertips. Keep track of tasks by project, place, person, or date. With OmniFocus for iPhone, you'll always have your important information at hand, whether it's a shopping list, agenda items to discuss at work, things to do at home--whatever you need.

We've refreshed the entire user interface for iOS 7. We've also gone deeper and reorganized some of the navigation to make it easier and more natural for you to quickly get ideas from your head to this app, and update them as you make progress towards your goals.

Use OmniFocus for iPhone on its own, or sync through the cloud with your other devices running OmniFocus (also available for iPad and Mac). Syncs can even happen when you're not actively using OmniFocus, so that your information is ready when you are.

This looks pretty great. The most powerful feature of OmniFocus on the iPhone is the location-aware contexts. So, if you need to pick something up from the hardware store, OmniFocus can be set up to let you know what you need when you're near the hardware store of your choice, for example.

Playing around with this. the new version frankly makes the desktop app look bad. OmniGroup, however, is working on a major overhaul of OmniFocus for Mac. If it's anything like this effort, it should be great.

The upgrade is $19.99, which will likely put off some people. The iPad version is extra and is the Mac version. OmniGroup definitely bucks the trends in the app store, but their apps are incredibly powerful. And the iOS version isn't just a companion app -- it's fully self-concontained if that's what you want to use. If you jump on board it conceivable you'll use them every day, which helps justify that cost over the years.
