Apple has quietly extended the coverage under its AppleCare+ protection plan for IPhones, iPods, and iPads to allow users to get service and support in any country that the service is available, not just in their home country, as was previously the case. TechCrunch first noted the change in Apple's documentation. Customers that have purchased the extended coverage will be able to take advantage of whatever AppleCare services are available in the country they are in, though the options and availability of services varies by region. This extension of service follows Apple's recent price changes for AppleCare service, where it increased service fees from $39 to $79 per case. AppleCare+ can be purchased Austria, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, Singapore, Spain, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
