The Best Apple iPhone 5c Accessories

The iPhone 5c ( at Amazon) is a surprising addition to Apple's smartphone family, offering a colorful plastic case and a more affordable price in a series that has for years been metal, understated, and premium. This is a sporty, playful phone, and it needs sporty, playful accessories to go with it. Of course, it has all of the new features of iOS 7 built right in, just like the iPhone 5s ( at Amazon) .

These colorful, affordable products complement the iPhone 5c in function and style, and further enhancing the smartphone as your new entertainment and communication hub. The UE Boom speaker, Fitbit Zip, and the official iPhone 5c case are all available in several bright colors so they can go with your iPhone 5c no matter what its chosen hue might be. Vibrant reds, greens, and blues can make your music and fitness accessories as cheery as the iPhone 5c itself.

Other accessories aren't quite as colorful, but they're still stylish and certainly not boring. The Jawbone Icon headset and Griffin WoodTones headphones both feature unique designs that stand out, while the Plantronics BackBeat Go 2 and RHA MA150 earphones offer great performance and sporty, functional designs at affordable prices.

For sheer usefulness, the Apple TV lets you stream any music, movies, or pictures on your iPhone 5c to your HDTV, and the Phonesuit Flex Pocket Charger can clip on to your phone to let you talk and listen even longer than the built-in battery allows. Rounding out the list, the Pebble Smartwatch lets you check your messages and control your music without taking it out of your pocket, and its waterproof design can join your Fitbit Zip when you work out.

1. UE Boom

UE Boom
($279.99 at Amazon)
If you want a rugged, portable speaker you can take anywhere and color-coordinate with your iPhone 5c, the UE Boom from Logitech is what you need. This beer can-sized speaker is available in a variety of colors, is water-resistant, and puts out satisfying sound.

2. Plantronics BackBeat Go 2

($28.99 at Amazon)
Your wireless headphones need to be able to go where you go, and the Plantronics BackBeat Go 2 do just that. Their nano-coating makes them water-resistant and able to stand up to sweat when at the gym, and their drivers can put out a surprisingly strong range of sound for their $80 price tag. If you want to spend an extra $20, you can get a handy battery pouch that can keep the headset charged when not in use.

3. Jawbone Icon

Jawbone Icon

The Jawbone Icon is small, stylish, and functional, letting you take calls while filtering out background noise thanks to its NoiseAssassin 2.5 audio processing. Like other Jawbone headsets, the Icon supports apps and different alert voices, so you can customize how it works with your iPhone 5c.

4. RHA MA150

RHA MA150
( at Amazon)
You don't need a big budget for great sound. The RHA MA150 earphones might seem like a bargain bin pair with their $20 price tag, but they sound excellent and full, and can be had for less than the cost of replacing your iPhone 5c earbuds.

5. Griffin WoodTones Over-the-Ear Headphones

($60.48 at Amazon)
Metal and wood are two great ways to make technology look more stylish. The iPhone 5c forsakes metal in favor of colorful and affordable plastic, but that doesn't mean you can't introduce some wood to the mix. The Griffin WoodTones offer walnut, sapele, or beech earcups on the outside and excellent audio performance that doesn't exclusively cater to audiophile purists or bass-hungry club-goers.

6. Fitbit Zip

Fitbit Zip
($124.00 at Amazon)
The Fitbit Zip is affordable with a $60 price tag and colorful with five different versions including blue, magenta, and lime. With the Fitbit Zip paired with your iPhone 5c, you can track your workouts, build up fitness badges and achievements, and challenge your friends to go even further.

7. Apple TV

($69.00 at Groupon)
The iPhone 5c can be used for more than playing music on an AirPlay speaker or through headphones. Thanks to AirPlay and Apple TV, you can stream video and photos to your HDTV and share anything you see with your friends. The Apple TV plugs into your HDTV and, in addition to accessing Netflix, Hulu Plus, YouTube, and the iTunes movie and music stores, can play nearly any media you keep on your iPhone.

8. Pebble Smartwatch

Pebble Smartwatch
($39.90 at Amazon)
Smartwatches still have a long way to go, but the Pebble is one of the first non-wobbly steps. You can switch between watch faces on the fly and use a handful of apps to check weather, read your email, and control your music from the watch's four buttons. Its monochrome E Ink display lets the watch go for a week without charging.

9. Phonesuit Flex Pocket Charger

Phonesuit Flex Pocket Charger
($44.99 at Amazon) The iPhone 5c's new design means it's going to be a while before we get battery cases that can fit it, but you can still keep it charged on the go with the Phonesuit Flex Pocket Charger. This portable battery is a tiny device with a built-in Lightning connector, and can offer nearly double the iPhone 5c's talk time with its 2,600mAh capacity.

10. iPhone 5c Case

iPhone 5c Case
Apple is already working on making its official iPhone 5c case iconic, with colorful rubber and neat holes to show off the complementary plastic of the iPhone 5c itself. This case comes in six different colors that can make your iPhone 5c pop even more than it already does, and its silicone and microfiber materials keep your phone protected from drops and dings.
