Autodesk continues its love for Apple today with this announcement. “Autodesk is excited to report that Autodesk AutoCAD 360 is the first professional software app that is optimized for the iPad Air & iPad mini with Retina Display.”

Built for Retina and Exciting 64-bit A7

As Apple noted today in its presentations, the A7 chip is a desktop class 64-bit multi-core CPU offering users such as architects, designers and engineers unprecedented power in a mobile tablet experience–out of the gate when using the new AutoCAD 360 software on new iPad Air or iPad mini.

“We are thrilled to be the first professional application to be ready for prime time iPad Air and iPad mini with Retina display. From a user’s perspective, navigating and editing large models will be snappier and much more fun,” said Jonathan Seroussi, director of AutoCAD web and mobile.  “Users will see an immediate improvement in a number of functions such as rendering – render time is twice as fast in both navigation and editing.”

Faster, Faster and Faster Yet

The new AutoCAD 360 on the brand new iPads with A7 chips offer twice as fast drawing selection, much faster opening of drawing files and faster yet rendering.

Autodesk reports that AutoCAD 360 is one of the most popular and widely used Autodesk mobile apps, with more than 5.5 million downloads on the App Store, more than 40 million uploaded drawings, and there are reportedly more than 1 million active monthly users on iOS alone.

AutoCAD 360 is optimized for the new A7 based iPad Air and iPad mini with Retina displays and will be available on the App Store.

Autodesk and Apple

In the company’s press release today Autodesk asserts its commitment to Apple’s platforms further by noting that in addition to being first to leverage the all new A7 iPads with Retina displays with a professional app like AutoCAD 360 the company has updated seven of its mobile apps to leverage iOS 7. These now include: AutoCAD 360, BIM 360 Field, BIM 360 Glue, Sketchbook Mobile, 123D Creature Show, InfraWorks mobile and Pixlr on iOS7.
