Suffering From iOS 7 Motion Sickness? The New iOS 7.0.3 Update May Hold The Cure

October 23, 2013
Have you been experiencing nausea since updating your iDevice to iOS 7? Well, then, make sure to install iOS 7.0.3. Released just a few hours ago by Apple, iOS 7.0.3 includes a number of improvements and bug fixes. But if your answer to my lead question is in the affirmative, then this part of the software update's release notes is likely to be of utmost importance to you:
Enhances the Reduce Motion setting to minimize both motion and animation
As we reported last month, many iDevice users had found that the parallax and zooming effects in iOS 7 had been giving them motion sickness. Indeed, the issue had become so widespread that popular late night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel was prompted to suggest a pseudo-solution for it. But kidding aside, iOS 7 has been offering an option to reduce motion, which can be accessed by going to Settings > General > Accessibility > Reduce Motion. But this option reduces only the parallax effect of icons and alerts. That is, until now, with the release of iOS 7.0.3, which deactivates the zooming effect in opening and closing apps and folders. Instead of zooming in and out of the interface, apps and folders now fade gently in and out when the Reduce Motion option is enabled. Note that setting Reduce Motion to On in iOS 7.0.3 disables both the parallax effect and the zooming effect. Personally, I'd like to be able to toggle them independent of each other. This is because I'm not really into the former, but I've grown quite fond of the latter, which actually makes for pretty (yet potentially nausea-inducing) animations.
