Transporter announces $99 Sync for cloud storage

Transporter is an interesting device that's essentially a roll your own Dropbox. The system includes a turn-key cloud system with sync software. You can sync files between device, similar to Dropbox, and even cooler you can sync between multiple Transporter boxes. So, for example, if you have one at home and one at work, you've got a redundant system in two physical locations. You can have basically as much storage as you want to buy without monthly fees. The biggest benefit is that you own your data and it's never on the public cloud.

This week Transporter announced a $99 Sync device that allows the users to connect their own USB storage. The lowers the cost of entry and makes it more practical for multiple installations. Plus it's more attractive to DIYers who probably have a spare drive sitting around.

Transporter Sync is expected to start shipping November 15th.
