Reminder: What You Post on the Internet Is Visible to the Internet
In the age of the social Web, you’re more transparent than you might think.
That’s the point of a video making the rounds from filmmaker Jack Vale, whose “social media” experiment aims to highlight to people just how much personal information they broadcast without really grasping it.
Walking around crowded public areas, Vale combed through social media posts from Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Foursquare to look up information on people nearby. He would then approach them and rattle off a list of details about their personal life, all to the shocked onlooker’s bewilderment.
It’s cute — if not a little creepy — but also a good reminder that, yes, your truth is out there. And you’re the one posting it.
