Later, Intel hopes to benefit from the improved products and technologies

Back in early December, Intel decided to invest in Taiwan-based electromagnetic (EM) digitizer module maker Waltop, particularly in the R&D on EM stylus technology. Now, a new investment has been revealed.

Long story short, Intel Capital has chosen to make an equity investment into SanJet Technology, a maker of high-end smart surveillance devices like digital video recorders (DVR).

In fact, SanJet seems particularly enamored with in-car DVRs.

Various sport-use, Internet, and wearable video recorders are all part of SanJet's portfolio as well.

The sum isn't clear for now, sadly, but it's not ultimately relevant. Intel always plays for keeps, so it's bound to keep a steady funnel of finances going until the technology reaches levels that satisfy its own projects.

Maybe it's setting up a line of processors for automotive and surveillance gadgets and needs to ensure it has access to all related resources. We'll probably find out at CES 2014 in January.
