Apple Brings A Handful Of Colorful iPhone 5c Ads To Tumblr
Apple has launched a new ad campaign for its iPhone 5c handset on Tumblr. Titled “Every color has a story,” five different colored ads (with a sixth one incoming) are available to view and repost now at the Tumblr site, “isee5c.tumblr.com.”
First noticed by 9to5mac, the new campaign consists of a handful of short ads which seem to last no longer than 16 seconds. Each one focuses on a different colored iPhone 5c handset that's been equipped with one of Apple's official iPhone 5c rubber cases; the resultant dot effect forms the basis of animations concerning rock concerts, carnivals, ice skating, and more.
The ads are short and sweet, featuring music and sound effects, and concluding with a related statement. The red and white advertisement, for example, concludes: “Porte des Lilas” (referring to the famous Paris Métro station). “Le Poinçonneur des Lilas” by Serge Gainsbourg is played during the course of the video.
Apple's iPhone 5c ad campaigns have so far focused on the colorful, “playful” nature of the smartphone: these have included a TV ad which appeared during the Emmys, a billboard campaign first noticed in San Francisco, and a video advertisement which proclaimed that the iPhone 5c and iOS 7 were “designed together.”
Despite this sustained effort, however, iPhone 5c sales are rumored to have been poor, and some – including our own Bryan Wolfe – have argued that the release of the handset was “a mistake that won't be repeated.”
