Imo Messenger Goes 4.0 With New Design And Features Minus 3rd-Party Chat Support

Imo has just updated its namesake messaging app for iOS to version 4.0.
According to its release notes, Imo 4.0 includes the following changes:
But the most important change in Imo 4.0 is not mentioned in the release notes: the removal of third-party chat service. To be sure, this omission is not unexpected. A month ago, Imo announced that it would be dropping support for third-party chat services:
- New minimalist design
- Huge performance improvements
- Photos and videos shared on imo are saved in the cloud
- New photo viewing experience opens photos and videos with one easy tap
- Various bug fixes
To provide the best and most reliable service for our users, we need to focus on the areas we feel we can make the biggest impact. We are now going to concentrate on building out our own communications platform to help people easily connect in their everyday lives. Our goal is to create the fastest and most reliable messaging, voice and video call service in the world.Imo stopped supporting third-party chat services last March 3. And now, it has completely removed the options to connect to such services as Facebook, Google Talk, Yahoo Messenger, AIM, ICQ, and Steam from its official iOS app. As a result, Imo for iOS can now be used using Imo's proprietary messaging network only. Unsurprisingly, many users, most of whom counted on Imo for unifying their multiple IM accounts in the first place, are none too pleased. At any rate, Imo 4.0 is available now in the App Store for free. It's compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad running iOS 7.0 or later.
