Weed Firm's mellow has been harshed, presumably for its "mature themes."

Apple pulls popular weed-growing game from App Store

Apple has pulled a marjiuana-centered game from the App Store after it had cracked the number-one spot in the charts, according to a report from Adweek on Wednesday. Apple did not specify why the game in question, Weed Firm, was removed, but it is possibly due to its content.

Like apps that deal with mature themes, such as sex and violence, Apple has a tenuous relationship with apps that concern pot. Adweek notes that there are other apps in the App Store that feature marijuana, including ones that help users figure out where they can physically buy pot in real life.

Weed Firm's marijuana theme remains entirely in the fictional realm—in the game, players maintain a marijuana-growing business. Kotaku notes that there are other similarly themed and styled games still available in the App Store, including Weed Farmer and Weed Tycoon.

While Apple doesn't pull games based on illegal activity, it's worth noting that there are legal marijuana-growing operations in the US where the drug has been legalized for medical purposes, such as in Washington. Weed Firm's creators at Manitoba Games wrote that the app was also pulled from the Google Play Store, though for different reasons. The company plans to resubmit Weed Firm to Apple with changes.
