The owners of Standard Functional Foods Group are acquiring a 289,000-square-foot office and warehouse building once occupied by computer giant Dell for around $13 million.

Jimmy Spradley Jr., CEO of the company that makes nutritional and snack products, including the famed Goo Goo Cluster, referred to the purchase as an investment.

He said the new ownership hasn't yet decided what to do with the building. "It's a good opportunity, a good location," he said. "Down the road, we might consider using it for a warehouse."

Ceva Logistics left the building at 2 Dell Parkway six months ago for a new warehouse at Beckwith Farms in Mt. Juliet, where it consolidated assembling Dell laptops and other products. Carrier Enterprise, a distributor of heating, ventilation and air conditioning, operates a local distribution center from a portion of that building.

The purchase is the second of a Nashville-area building by Standard Functional's owners in just over a month. They paid $1.85 million for a 4,330-square-foot building at 116 Third Ave. S. downtown with plans for a shop dedicated to the Goo Goo Cluster in the fall.

Standard Functional has corporate headquarters and manufacturing operations at 715 Massman Drive and also leases an additional 200,000 square feet of warehouse space in the area. Brokers Ronnie Wenzler of Cassidy Turley and Bill Hawkins of Chas. Hawkins Co. Inc. represented the company's owners in acquiring the building at 2 Dell Parkway from private entity Two Dell Nashville Partnership.

Randy Wolcott and Bo Fulk of Northstar Real Estate Advisors represented Two Dell Nashville Partnership in selling the building, which is at the intersection of Donelson and Murfreesboro pikes.

On that campus, Dell still has operations focused on sales, financial services and customer support in connected buildings, said David Frink, its spokesman. The computer giant still has 1,300 employees in the Nashville area.
