Apple Gets Chummy With Fashion Folk for Sept. 9 Event

Apple has inviting an "unprecedented" number of fashion editors and bloggers to its big Tuesday event.

If there was any doubt that Apple will announce a wearable device on Sept. 9, then you might want to read a new report from Reuters, which says that Apple has invited a number of "high profile fashion editors and bloggers" to its big fall event next week.

We're not just talking about a few industry folks here and there. Reuters described the guest list as an "unprecedented number" of fashion-related individuals.

Does Apple typically do that for iPhone launches? Nope. Unless the company is planning to unveil some godawful Swarovski crystal-backed smartphone, which we highly doubt, then it stands to reason that you'll be seeing some wearables come Tuesday.

How many, what they might look like, and what price points they might come in at are all anyone's guess right now. And while a number of entities have been speculating, we haven't seen any reported product leaks just yet. The same can't be said for Apple's alleged iPhone 6, which has a number of images associated to its name.

In the latest batch of leaks, the thinner, larger device looks like it has space for six total rows of icons per screen (in four columns). It's thin enough that the iPhone 6's camera actually sticks out a little bit from the back instead of siting flush against the iPhone's rear, as we've seen in all iPhones thus far.

Of course, some are skeptical, noting that the leakers themselves—who sometimes appear in the very videos of them showing off the alleged iPhone 6—wouldn't actually do that if they had a real iPhone 6 on their hands.

As for the dearth of leaks—even potentially fake ones—for the rumored iWatch, that's likely because Apple won't deliver it for a number of months. It's been widely speculated that alleged manufacturing difficulties for the new device have pushed Apple's launch timetable to early 2015. Assembly for the device, as reported by MacRumors last month, isn't even to likely begin until this month.

In other words, there simply isn't anything to leak right now. And there's precedence for this, as the International Business Times also noted last month. The original iPhone and iPad didn't launch until months after they were first revealed, and images of the alleged devices weren't leaked at all prior to their official unveiling.
