LOS ANGELES, Oct. 3 (UPI) -- Leonardo DiCaprio has reportedly bowed out from playing Steve Jobs in an upcoming biopic and instead plans to star in the adventure drama The Revenant.

IMDb reports DiCaprio was in talks with Sony Picture to play the late Apple co-founder in a film directed by Danny Boyle, but the actor exited the project to star in the Alejandro González Iñárritu drama.

While Sony hoped DiCaprio could come back to the Jobs project after filming The Revenant, sources say the actor plans to take some time off acting after completing the film.

The still-untitled Jobs biopic will be penned by Aaron Sorking based on a biography by Walter Isaacson. New dad Ashton Kutcher previously played the Apple co-founder in the 2013 biopic Jobs.
