Apple Pay setup screen surfaces in second beta version of iOS 8.1

October 8, 2014

Further evidence pointing toward the launch of Apple Pay alongside iOS 8.1 has just been discovered in the second beta version of the upcoming software update.

As noted by developer Hamza Sood (via 9to5Mac), iOS 8.1 beta 2, released earlier today, contains a setup screen for Apple’s soon to be launched mobile payment service in an internal build of Passbook (pictured above).

The setup screen lets users add a new credit or debit card to be used with the service, by either manually entering card information or capturing it using the camera:

Sood previously shared screenshots of the new settings screen for Apple Pay in the first beta version of iOS 8.1, including options for adding and managing credit and debit cards and for setting the default card, phone number and billing, shipping and email addresses.

He also found in iOS 8.1 beta 1 a code string that hinted at the availability of Apple Pay on iPad via Touch ID, which had been rumored to be added to the next-generation iPad Air and iPad mini.

Apple Pay and iOS 8.1 is expected to be launched on Oct. 20.
