Box for iOS updated with Touch ID support, Today widget, favorites feature and more

November 12, 2014

The official iOS app of the popular cloud storage service Box has just been updated with new features for iOS 8 along with other improvements.

One of the most notable new features brought by the app’s latest update is support for unlocking Box using Touch ID as an alternative to passcode protection in iOS 8.

Also in iOS 8, the update ads support for Box’s very own Today widget in the Notification Center. Box’s Today widget lets you quickly access up to five of your most recent files, create a new Box Note, take photos and videos to be uploaded to Box, and view offline and favorite files and folders.

The new version of Box also includes the following enhancements:

  • In-folder search capabilities
  • Box Bookmarks are now accessible
  • Support for previewing password-protected Office and iWork files
  • Automatic photo upload for Personal Pro subscribers and Enterprise users
  • Additional stability improvements and bug fixes

Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad running iOS 7.0 or later, Box is available on the App Store for free, with in-app purchases offered for unlocking pro subscriptions.
