Hewlett Packard to pay $10.6M in 911 system dispute

Hewlett Packard will fork over $10.6 million to the city to settle a contract dispute over revamping the 911 system, Comptroller Scott Stringer announced Monday.

The settlement requires that HP also follow a new set of directives when it enters into future contracts with the city.

Under the terms, timesheets will include a detailed description of work performed, city workers must certify those records and city agencies will have to verify contractors’ qualifications for what they bill the city.

The city hired HP in 2005 for its Emergency Communications Transformation Project.
