Samsung is said to be having a lot of major redesigns implemented on its upcoming Galaxy S6 smartphone. The new flagship that is anticipated to be revealed at the Mobile World Congress 2015 (MWC 2015) this March is expected to have better looks and build, and massively improved specifications compared to the Galaxy S5.
Recently, we have known about a big change to be implemented on the Samsung Galaxy S6, which is not found on its predecessor but is already a feature that the current Apple iPhone lineup has, the touch-based fingerprint scanner. With past battles between Samsung and Apple, it seems like the Cupertino tech titan has another reason to be mad about the Korean tech giant.

Whether it is for personal use or for work, security on your smartphone is a big issue. It is not something that should be taken lightly and there should be technological advancements implemented to prevent compromising it.
To improve the security on smartphones, Samsung introduced a swipe-based fingerprint scanner on the Galaxy S5. This paved way to its other devices carrying the same security feature. These devices include the Galaxy S5 Mini, Galaxy Alpha, Galaxy Tab S, Galaxy Note 4, and Galaxy Note Edge.
Although Samsung was not the first OEM to implement a fingerprint scanner in a mobile phone, it is considered as one of the best especially when it comes to its software. It lets you do more than just lock and unlock your device. In terms of hardware though, it utilized a swipe-based fingerprint scanner, which was not that spectacular since it appeared to be designed poorly.
Samsung has put the sensor on the tiny home button, which did not have enough surface area for users to swipe their finger on, which often resulted to errors. This can be frustrating to many. There may be a workaround, which is to register a finger in multiple angles, but not many know about this. Furthermore, Samsung’s tutorial is a bit terrible.
Samsung is believed to be improving this on the next Galaxy S iteration. According to SamMobile, Samsung is mimicking a feature already present on the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.
Apple iPhone TouchID on the Galaxy S6?
The Galaxy S6 is reported to replace the swipe-based fingerprint scanner with a touch-based recognition sensor on its home button. This is similar to the Apple TouchID found on the current iPhone flagship smartphones. Thus, instead of having a sensor the requires the user to swipe a finger, the sensor will just require the user to tap a finger on it to log into the smartphone and do other things that require a secured sign on.
If this report is true, it means that Samsung might have a larger home button for its Galaxy S6. This will greatly alter the design of the Galaxy flagship and the difference will be extremely noticeable. However, SamMobile said that Samsung will make the home button just a little bigger from its predecessor, but will ensure a flawless user experience.
Still Better Security Software than iPhone?
In terms of software, there are no reported major changes. However, Samsung is believed to bring back legacy features from its predecessors to the Galaxy S6. These include the fingerprint unlock, web sign-in, verify Samsung account, private mode, and pay with Paypal.
