Transformers: Battle Tactics

Heads up, Transformers fans.

Developer DeNa and Hasbro on Thursday released a new turn-based strategy game for iOS and Android devices that you might want to check out. Dubbed Transformers: Battle Tactics, the free game is inspired by the new Combiner Wars comic story and the 30-year history of the Transformers Generations universe.

During the game, players will collect and build teams of Autobots and Decepticons who will — for the first time in a Transformers game — fight alongside each other. You'll manage an army of Transformers characters, bringing up to four onto the battlefield at a time to duke it out. Characters can level up, or be linked together to unlock powerful Combiners and "inflict critical damage to change the tide of battle," the companies said.

"Battles are swift and require strategic decision-making, resulting in unexpected victory or devastating defeat," according to the app's description. "As Transformers characters change modes their stats and abilities shift, allowing players to wage war in limitless ways."

The game features more than 75 characters you know and love, including Optimus Prime, Megatron, Starscream, Bumblebee, and Combiner Centuritron. There's also a virtual leaderboard, where you can earn bragging rights and in-game prizes. If your friends play the game as well, you can connect with them and form a League to earn an edge over the competition.

"The fun and calculated turn-based gameplay, diverse characters and abilities and deep leveling and combo system in Transformers: Battle Tactics will give players the hundreds of options to make their team more powerful and keep the competition fierce," Barry Dorf, vice president of partnerships and alliances at DeNA, said in a statement.

Transformers: Battle Tactics is available now in the App Store and Google Play.
