ScreenShot PSD for Mac review

ScreenShot PSD for Mac analyzes your desktop and takes a multilayered screenshot of it, placing each object you see on your screen in a separate layer for easier manipulation. This utility is available for free in the Mac App Store and features a handy and intuitive keyboard shortcut for taking PSD screenshots.

Pros

Multilayered screenshots: ScreenShot PSD for Mac's screenshots are highly customizable. Since every object, including all of your windows, cursor, dock, menu bar, etc, are all placed in separate intelligently named layers, it is very easy to move items around and hide or delete anything irrelevant.

A sensible shortcut: The app can be activated via a shortcut that fits right in with the other screenshot shortcuts: CMD+Shift+5. Unfortunately, there is currently no way to change the keyboard combination that triggers this functionality.

Timed mode: You can use the menu bar icon to take a screenshot with a delay of five seconds. This will give you enough time to get all of your windows looking just the way you want them.

Cons

Limited customizability: The app would be more versatile if it were possible to assign custom keyboard shortcuts to the regular and timed screenshot functions. And speaking of the timed screenshots, five seconds of prep time might not work for everyone, so the ability to enter a custom amount of time would be great.

Bottom Line

A tool like ScreenShot PSD for Mac can be indispensable to you if you often work with screenshots that you later have to edit. The ability to capture everything in its own layer makes the image editing process both easier and safer.
