More changes are coming for the Start menu

The Start menu will be back in Windows 10 and insiders can already give it a shot if they download the Technical Preview builds, but it turns out that Microsoft is planning even more changes in the upcoming versions of these early releases.

The Start menu, which now comes with an updated look and includes live tiles that were previously available on the Windows 8.1 Start screen, will become the key feature for the essential capabilities of Windows 10 and a new report points to more changes in this direction.

According to Neowin, Microsoft is working to move the search feature that is currently integrated into the taskbar directly into the Start menu, thus keeping the desktop tidy and making everything more familiar for Windows 7 users.

The new search feature will work in a similar way to the one that's already up for testing does, but it will be easily accessible from the Start menu. Whenever you type something in the search field and hit enter, a new window opens up and allows you to browse results.

What's more, it appears that Cortana will also be moved to the Start menu in a future Windows 10 build, so several new features of the upcoming operating system would be entirely accessible through this option.

A new Windows 10 build should be released anytime soon, most likely this week, but do not expect major changes to be part of this launch, as Microsoft has reportedly focused more on work under the hood of the OS.
