Apple CEO Tim Cook today commemorated his late friend and company co-founder, on what would have been Steve Jobs's 60th birthday.

"Remembering Steve, who would have turned 60 today," he tweeted, quoting Jobs: "The only way to do great work is to love what you do."

His message mirrors last year's sentiment, when Cook wrote that "We honor [Jobs] by continuing the work he loved so much."

Jobs, the enigmatic co-founder of Apple, died in October 2011 of complications related to pancreatic cancer. Just 56 years old, he passed away one day after Cupertino unveiled the iPhone 4s.

Over the years, the entrepreneur amassed a personal fortune of $8.2 billion, inspiring an action figure, fake blog persona, and numerous parodies featuring admirers donning his trademark black-turtleneck-and-jeans uniform.

Successor Cook joined Apple in 1998, and took over four years ago when an ailing Jobs stepped down from the chief position.

Today, the executive reportedly met with editors at the German tabloid Bild, which, as AppleInsider pointed out is not a publication normally associated with the Cupertino-based tech giant. There is no word on what the meeting was about; Apple did not respond to a request for comment.

Cook, however, has recently been rumored to be visiting Israel, ahead of the launch of a new research and development office outside of Tel Aviv. The building, according to AppleInsider, would house 800 to 1,000 employees, many of whom were acquired when Apple purchased flash memory maker Anobit and motion sensing company PrimeSense.
