Cocktail for Mac review

Cocktail for Mac puts all of your Mac's maintenance settings under one roof. We're talking settings that are more in-depth than what's available in System Preferences, so it will appeal mostly to advanced users.

Pros

Clean interface: Cocktail for Mac makes it easy for you to jump right in. Menu items represent different areas of your computing for maintenance: Disks, System, Files, Network, Interface, and Pilot.

Centralized settings: Instead of having your Mac's settings in multiple locations, Cocktail brings it all under one roof. View your Mac's Time Machine logs, Enable AirDrop on older Macs, and repair disk permissions all from one app.

Ample Help: Cocktail for Mac comes with a thorough help file in the event you have questions or need to troubleshoot. Not only does the help file show you how to change the setting, but also it explains what specific features do, such as file system journaling.

Cons

Experienced Mac users only: Cocktail for Mac brings a lot of settings out into the open for users to tweak, which means a lot of room for mistakes if you're not sure of what you're doing.

Bottom Line

If you're used to managing your Mac's under-the-hood settings, you'll appreciate having them all under one roof with Cocktail for Mac. Because of all the setting configurations and room for error, we can only recommend this app for experienced Mac users.

Editors' note: This is a review of the trial version of Cocktail for Mac 8.1.2.
