LONDON: Dell has introduced Venue 10 7000 tablet. The device will be unveiled in the coming weeks of April when customers will be able to buy its base model for $499 and one with backlit keyboard for $629.
“The Venue 10 7000 gives our customers all that and more: enhanced productivity with a full-sized keyboard and Android for Work, a brilliant display and innovative features like the Intel RealSense snapshot depth camera, all wrapped in a gorgeous design,” says Neil Hand, VP of Dell’s tablet group.
The predecessor Venue 8 7000 has been quite successful in alluring the buyers and pleasing the users, now the latest is anticipated to offer something different and better. The first major difference begins with its larger 10-inch display. Except the same 2.3 GHz processor, RealSense depth-sensing technology, and 2560 x 1600 OLED display, the Venue 10 7000 outshines its predecessor in all other aspects.
If we look at the memory capacity of the Venue 10, it has a standard 2GB of RAM, 16GB of built-in storage. But if that is not enough for you, you can expand it to 512GB.
The device is brushed with Aluminium which gives it a captivating appearance. It is impressively slim (just 6.2 mm), but the real comment-able part of the tablet is its shape with a cylinder-like edge along one side. If it was to add beauty, it definitely doesn’t serve the purpose. But it has other benefits which cannot be ignored.
First and foremost is that it provides a stronger grip over the big tablet which couldn’t have been achieved if the device was designed similar to its predecessor. Dell reasons the same easier to hold and carry around thing for adding this barrel-shaped edge.
Further the tablet maker says it will allow user to remain in front of the speaker all the time, no matter how the tablet is positioned. Additionally, the cylinder encapsulates the battery and few other internals. And the keyboard is also attached to this very cylinder. Thus even if the users dislike this cylinder; its numerous functions should make it acceptable for them.
One of the very important differences between Venue 10 and Venue 8 is of battery; Venue 10 wins with its big 7,000 mAh battery. But will this increased capacity of battery be translated in its better performance? This is not sure as two opposite official statements have surfaced to this regard. According to The Verge report, Dell had told that the battery will last for 15 hours, but at the latest announcement, the company ate its words saying it will last for 7 hours.
Dell believes its device works efficiently for both business and personal usage. Obviously, this claim is undermined by ordinary battery life of its tablet. Which can be the biggest hurdle for marketing the device? Anyhow, the device is designed to help people in running business affairs and playing stuff by separating the two domains. This means that the business related apps will not interact with personal apps.
