While you're waiting for your brand-new Apple Watch to arrive (possibly a bit early), feel free to start checking out some of the various apps you'll be able to install. There are about 3,000 in all, which should tide you over until you have that almost-shipped device nestled safely around your wrist.

Apple Watch App StoreApple has flipped the switch on the App Store for Apple Watch apps. The Apple Watch app came with iOS 8.2, but until today, tapping the "App Store" tab within the app didn't get you very far. Now, it features a list of apps you can pair with your new Apple smartwatch.

As The Verge pointed out, that list has only about three dozen apps listed. Getting to the full Apple Watch app store (pictured) requires a bit of trickery. Namely, you have to tap the "App Store" tab several times (The Verge says seven; I had to tap a few more times) to unlock it.

American Airlines on Apple WatchThe Apple Watch app on your iOS device is how you'll organize the apps that are displayed on your wearable. Some standard Apple fare comes built-in with the watch, like messages, mail, Siri, and Activity. But you can add a number of things on top of that, from travel and productivity apps to games and entertainment.

The full Apple Watch app store has apps categorized by creativity, travel, health and fitness, communication, family, and work. Featured apps include Twitter, NYTimes, Pacemaker, Instagram, and Yelp. Clicking through to the app descriptions will give you an idea of what some of these apps will look like on your wrist (like American Airlines above).
