Police have arrested a 17-year-old man after he was found with a Taser disguised as an iPhone.

Possessing a stun gun carries a maximum jail sentence of 10 years.

This weapon, disguised as an iPhone, has two electrodes at the top and appears to be different from some stun-gun add-ons you can buy online.

These covers, like the Yellow Jacket case, will turn your mobile into an electric stun gun.

BBC Technology reviewed this product, which packed 650,000 volts.

This is enough to provide an unpleasant sting rather than a Taser-like knock-out blow.

It is still illegal to buy one of these in the UK, but stun guns are legal in dozens of states in the US.

In July 2014 a 21-year-old hairdresser from Oxford was sentenced to four years in prison for possessing one of them disguised as a mobile.

Police seized a similar iPhone gun from a 14-year-old boy in Manchester earlier in 2014.
